Eleven Species. One Standard.
All timber direct-from-forest, milled on-site with our Wood-Mizer LT20. Available for domestic and international export.
The Full Chain, Under One Name
From selective harvesting and precision milling to export logistics and forestry consultancy.
Tree Felling
We practise selective harvesting — identifying and felling only mature trees while protecting younger growth. Each tree is carefully chosen to maintain biodiversity, preserve soil integrity, and keep the forest productive for future generations. No clear-cutting, ever.
Wood Milling
Our on-site milling operation runs a Wood-Mizer LT40 bandsaw mill for precision dimensional cutting and a MR250 Multirip for high-volume ripping. Together they handle everything from structural beams to fine furniture blanks — all milled to client specification with minimal kerf waste.
Quality Assurance
Every board and beam passes a structured QA inspection before leaving site — checking moisture content, dimensional accuracy, surface defects, grain integrity, and species verification. Only timber meeting our export-grade standard is released. Full mill certificates issued on request.
Logistics
We manage end-to-end logistics across the SADC region through our digital platform — real-time shipment tracking, automated export documentation, phytosanitary and customs paperwork, and live driver tracking. From Lusaka to any port or border, every movement is visible and verifiable.
From Tree to Timber
Sustainable Tree Selection
Mature trees carefully identified for harvest. Younger growth preserved to maintain biodiversity and ecosystem balance.
Replanting & Conservation
For every tree harvested, a minimum of two new seedlings are planted — ensuring continuous forest regeneration per our 2:1 model.
Professional Tree Felling
Skilled team applies safe, efficient logging techniques — minimising waste and protecting the surrounding environment.
Processing & Customisation
Timber processed to standard or client-specific dimensions using Wood-Mizer LT20 — high accuracy, minimal waste.
By-Product Utilisation
Sawdust, offcuts and timber residues repurposed for agricultural, fuel and industrial applications — zero waste policy.

Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about sourcing African hardwood timber from Zambia.
What African timber species does ZamTimbers supply?
ZamTimbers supplies eleven species direct from Zambia's forests: African Teak, Mukwa, African Rosewood, African Mahogany, Eucalyptus, Pine, Mufuka (Museshe), Pod Mahogany (Mupapa), Pau Ferro (Kasanda), Missanda (Kayimbi), and Natal Mahogany (Musikili). All timber is milled on-site and available for domestic and international export.
Is Zambian timber available for international export?
Yes. ZamTimbers is a direct forest operator based in Lusaka, Zambia, supplying export-ready African hardwood worldwide. We provide full export documentation including mill certificates, phytosanitary certificates, and customs paperwork. All species are FSC-aligned and EUDR-ready.
What is Mukwa timber used for?
Mukwa (Pterocarpus angolensis) — Zambia's iconic copper-toned hardwood — is prized for high-end furniture, decorative flooring, interior joinery, and fine cabinetry. Its interlocked grain and natural durability make it one of Africa's most sought-after hardwoods.
Is African Teak the same as Asian Teak?
Zambian African Teak (Tectona grandis) is botanically the same species as Asian teak, offering the same natural oils, weatherproof properties, and insect resistance prized globally for marine, construction, and fine furniture applications. Zambian-grown teak benefits from rich laterite soils, producing dense, export-grade timber.
How long are lead times for African hardwood from Zambia?
Lead times depend on species and volume. Eucalyptus and Pine are available within 3–7 days from stock. Hardwoods such as Teak, Mukwa, Rosewood and Mahogany typically ship within 7–21 days depending on processing requirements and export documentation. Contact us for a firm lead time on your order.
Does ZamTimbers offer custom timber dimensions?
Yes. ZamTimbers operates a Wood-Mizer LT20 precision bandsaw mill on-site, allowing custom cutting to client-specified dimensions. We supply standard and bespoke timber sizes for construction, furniture manufacturing, and export programmes worldwide.
What certifications does ZamTimbers hold?
ZamTimbers is FSC-aligned, EUDR-ready (EU Deforestation Regulation), and CITES-compliant for all applicable species. We operate under Zambia Forestry Commission (ZFC) compliance and maintain a 2:1 mandatory replanting model — two seedlings planted for every tree harvested.
